This was a semester-long 3D project to learn Maya and Unreal engine. Thus, I made almost everything. The assets I did not make are: the bookshelves (not the stairs one though), the chairs, the tables not attached to the machine, the candles, the telscope, the whaleshark (though I did the animating), the small box on the ground, and the window in the floor. Everything else I modeled, textured, and brought into Unreal.
The skills I used for this project were: low poly modeling, UV mapping, creating custom textures in Adobe Painter and Designer, bringing them into Unreal for placement, constructing those textures in Unreal, Lighting the scene, post-processing, animating the whale in Maya, creating custom particles, creating animated textures in Unreal, creating my own Caustics, and experimenting a lot more with volumetric fog and godrays to create the shining window effect.
I have also attempted to bring it into WebGL so it can be a playable on my Itch page, but 5.0 stopped supporting Web export, so I have been looking into methods people use to do these exports anyways. Soon, I hope, it will be playable so people can walk around the diorama space and enjoy the atmosphere.
