This project was originally created as an example of sheep herding for a friend who was making a sheep game. For a proof of concept, I loaded up sturdyspoon's movement ai and justcreate's simple nature pack and tweaked the movement to be sheep-like in a process that took about 20 minutes. While this example was never used in that friend's final project, everyone I showed it to had so much fun pushing the sheep and running around with them that I continued to add more to make it cuter and more fun.
In order to add animations to the sheep, I used a rigged and animated realistic sheep model and swapped the bones onto this sheep so I could preserve the animations. Then it was as easy as adding in the sheep as a child to the herding prefab and giving the animation controller the animations to be active at all times. That sheep did have more animations than just walking, so I shall let those sheep rest some time.
Skills learned: Boids, transferring rigs and animations, environment placement.
Please refer to the Itch page for the playable and Attribution of assets I used.
